We have seen a lot of so-called IBS patients at our clinic over the past few years, and been struck by how fast a recovery is possible even for those who have suffered for years.
Many have told us how their doctors tell them “it’s IBS – you’ll have to live with it”. Or they get a prescription that does nothing to really return them to normal digestive freedom. One patient had a bad reaction to a gut drug he was given in hospital – within 10 minutes he had worrying symptoms affecting his vision, and decided to find another way. We have had numerous patients who simply have had a common parasite for years – causing them increasing health problems, increased sensitivities, skin sores, as well as frequent and often urgent need for the toilet. The misery that these conditions cause is not to be underestimated, and many patients report being too anxious to go anywhere new where they do not know where they can find toilets, and others too afraid to take more than local journeys.
We have been delighted to see the rapid return to normality many patients can make with this approach – finding the cause of their IBS and treating that. Often within one treatment there is a 95% improvement by the time we see them for their first check-up. Yet many have put up with it for years. This has lead to us deciding to put concentrated effort into working with GPs and politicians to encourage a much more effective approach to IBS. This is not something that people should have to live with for years especially when help is available. We can treat your IBS at our clinic, or, for those living too far away we can test a hair sample for you (see hair testing page for details).
We will shortly be looking to work with a few GP practices to let them test the results of our ‘functional biochemistry’ approach (ie. treat the cause not just the symptom). We are looking for any of you with on-going IBS especially if you have been to your doctor about it so that they know about it too. If you would like to be part of our ‘working with GPs on IBS’ project, please contact us as soon as you can. If we have enough support from GPs we hope to get policy makers to agree to free prescriptions for our remedies and hopefully some of the testing too. First, though, we need patients who are happy to tell their doctors they want to have alternative treatment and want their doctors to be part of the process. Ideally if you have given them a chance to cure your IBS and were still suffering, we would hope your doctors would respect your right to try other approaches. So do get in touch and your GP is very welcome to ring if wanting to be part of our trial project. It will take a while to secure free treatments for your testing, if we can get everyone on board, so for now the sessions would be charged normally.
They can ring 01437 741176 for Gitti Coats or 07811 074068 for Lise Matthews.
Here is our most recent testimonial from an IBS patient to help encourage you that there is no point in putting up with it any longer.
“Having suffered for years with a debilitating upset stomach, I am now able to lead a normal life. The doctors told me it was IBS and I had to live with it. How glad I was to receive a birthday present which was a session with The Health Detectives. For me it was life changing, and I thoroughly recommend it. The sessions were very relaxing and quite amazing. Constant support and communication throughout. Thank you”.
